Oregon’s Naming and Shaming

Did you know Oregon is rolling out a "naming and shaming" list? Starting July 14, the Oregon Department of Revenue will publish names of individuals and businesses who owe $50,000 or more in delinquent taxes, penalties, and interest. The goal: pressure compliance.

What the List Will Include

Anyone owing above the threshold may see their name, business name, city, state, lien ID, type of debt, and current amount published. This applies to both individuals and businesses with liability over $50,000.

How to Respond (Before Publication)

  • Confirm your outstanding balance using Oregon’s Revenue Online portal.
  • Reach out to Oregon DOR to make payment arrangements or dispute the amount.
  • Settle liabilities before July 14 to avoid being named publicly.

Why This Matters

Public exposure can harm credit, reputation, and customer confidence. Some businesses may lose trust or face backlash simply by appearing on the list — even if the debt is resolved later.
